The story
It started with a challenge to write one song.
The Buey Project is the musical journey of songwriter Ben Buey. What began as a personal challenge, just write one song, quickly became something much bigger.
Without any formal musical background, Ben discovered that songwriting gave him a way to express thoughts and experiences that were often difficult to put into conversation. The songs became a language of their own.
Across three albums: Where I Am, Still Here and Carry On, The Buey Project tells an honest story of struggle, resilience, reflection, love, family, friendship, loss and hope. Rather than following a single genre, the music follows the emotion of each story, drawing influence from alternative rock, electronic music and classic rock.
“It isn't about chasing fame or fitting into the music industry. It's about telling stories that matter.”
Every song has a real meaning behind it. Whether it's confronting mental health, overcoming dependency, celebrating the people who shape our lives, exploring fractured relationships, or paying tribute to everyday heroes, the aim has always been the same.
If just one listener hears a song and feels understood, reminded they're not alone, or inspired to keep moving forward, then the project has achieved exactly what it set out to do.
What every song aims to be
Genuine
No invented drama. Every lyric comes from something real: lived, felt, and remembered.
Relatable
Written so a stranger can hear their own life in it, and feel a little less alone.
Unapologetically honest
The hard things are named plainly. Comfort comes from the truth, not from softening it.
